What really arrives in a baby sample box
A realistic look at the wipes, sachets and discount codes inside a new-parent welcome box.

The photos make baby sample boxes look like a beautifully styled shelf. The parcel that lands on your doorstep is usually smaller, lighter and considerably more practical.
That is not a bad thing. Here is what to expect.
The reliable contents
Most new-parent boxes include a pack of sensitive wipes, one or two nappy-cream sachets, a small bottle or a packet of breast pads, and a stack of discount codes. Those codes are the real prize if you were going to buy the brand anyway.
The occasionally useful contents
A 150ml bottle is useful if it matches a steriliser you already own. A sample of laundry detergent is enough for one or two washes. A tiny tube of nappy cream will last a week, which is exactly long enough to decide whether you like it.
The filler
Stickers, a single tea bag, a folded leaflet about a loyalty scheme. Fine, but not a reason to hand over your address on its own.
How to claim without the spam
Use an email address you actually check, because dispatch notices matter. Unsubscribe from the marketing list after the box arrives, but keep the order confirmation until it is delivered. If a box asks for a due date, that is normal. If it asks for your income or insurance details, close it.
One box per household is the usual limit, and brands do check. Chasing a second box with a different email is a good way to get both orders cancelled.
Expect the box to take one to three weeks. If it arrives after the baby, the wipes still work.
